CO₂ equivalents (CO₂e) are a unit of measurement used to express the climate impact of different greenhouse gases in a common metric. They take into account how strongly a given amount of a gas contributes to the greenhouse effect compared with the reference gas carbon dioxide (CO₂), based on its global warming potential over a 100-year time horizon (GWP₁₀₀).
